Annual Christmas Luncheon

The spirit of Christmas was brought to life in the magnigicent Shelbourne Hotel as 170 Network Dublin members and guests gathered for our annual Christmas luncheon on Friday, 30 November 2007. The trees were lit, the fires were glowing and the Jolie champagne was flowing during the drinks reception where guests were entertained by a jazz trio before entering the main ballroom for a splendid 4 course luncheon and a peek through the overflowing Fisher’s goody bags.

Network Dublin President, Leanne Papaionnou, welcomed all in attendance before introducing our guest speaker, Liam Griffin, Managing Director of the Griffin Hotel Group which includes Hotel Kilkenny, Ferrycarrig Hotel and Monart Destination Spa. Liam shared stories of growing up in the hotel business, his passion for Wexford hurling and kept us highly amused with a few jokes. Along with Amanda Corrigan, Marketing Manager of Monart Destination Spa, Liam presented two awards; Best Dressed to Hilda de Block and Best Shoes to Denise Fay.

Over dessert and coffee the amazing raffle prizes were awarded to the lucky, and very generous, winners. €2,700 was raised for our Charity of the Year, One Family, and we are very grateful to everyone who sponsored prizes and purchased raffle tickets. Please support our very generous Sponsors

Before retiring to the Horseshoe for further networking, Leanne introduced incoming President, Kerry O’Donnell. Kerry made a presentation to Leanne on behalf of all members and thanked her for her inspired leadership over the past two years. Thanks to Leanne and her hard working committee, Network Dublin has experienced tremendous growth. Quite fittingly, the event ended with a standing ovation for Leanne as members and guests applauded the achievements of this remarkable woman.

Work/Life Balance Just Got Easier for Dublin Business Women

Monart Destination Spa has become the main sponsor of Network Dublin

Recently voted as one of the top ten luxury destinations in the world by Forbes Magazine, Wexford-based Monart Destination Spa is owned and operated by Liam Griffin, former Wexford Hurling player and All-Ireland winning Manager. The deal sees Network Dublin become the first organisation Monart has sponsored since it opened in December 2005.

Speaking at the announcement in the Burlington Hotel, Amanda Corrigan, Marketing Manager of Monart Destination Spa said “We believe that the qualities and beliefs of Network Dublin are similar to our own. The Network Dublin theme of 'My Work, My Life, My Play' is a perfect match with our own vision.”

Amanda elaborated “Business Women today lead incredibly busy lives. They juggle so much in their home life as well as their business life. Monart is the ideal location for such a busy woman to rest, rejuvenate and transform themselves.”

Network Dublin is a support and confidence building organisation for women in business, the professions and the arts. It runs monthly events centred on 'My Work, My Life, My Play' and it is part of the larger nationwide organisation, Network Ireland.

Leanne Papaioannou, President of Network Dublin said “Monart is one of the most beautiful places in Ireland. It really is a special and magical destination. It is definitely a place to leave the stresses of Dublin business life behind, if even for a few days.”

This is a phenomenal vote of confidence in our organisation as well as a great benefit to our existing members. We are delighted to welcome Monart into our association.” continued Papaioannou.

The deal is highly relevant for Network Dublin as it is currently on a growth trajectory. It is continually looking to attract new members, both entrepreneurs and corporate members. The Monart Sponsorship will enable Network Dublin to promote its brand and the benefits it brings to Dublin business women.

Recent figures from Global Entrepreneurship Monitor found that 70,000 women or 5.5% of the adult population in Ireland are at the early stage of setting up their business. It also found that 42% of all adult women said fear of failure prevented them from starting a business. Network Dublin, as a support and confidence building organisation, is well positioned to assist women when starting their own business.
