International Women’s Day - Celebrate with a Shoeism |

|
Date | Wednesday 12th March 2008
Time | 18.30
Venue | The Stephen’s Green Hibernian Club
Dear Tricia,
Please join us as we celebrate International Women’s Day with a very special event. We’ve decided to stage a ‘Shoeisms’ day, based on the best-selling wit and wisdom of Network Dublin member, Veronica Canning. |
Veronica is an exceptionally motivating and inspirational communicator, with over thirty years experience in the four corners of the globe. She is a best-selling author, a highly successful business mentor, a much sought-after international speaker and the developer of the highly acclaimed “SHOES Programme”, a revolutionary method of empowering the next generation of women business leaders.
And now, she has taken the “SHOES Programme” a step farther through the creation of ‘Shoeisms’, a consumer-friendly distillation of her business and personal wisdom which comes in ‘playing card’ format, and which has been eagerly embraced by women at all lifestages. Experience – whether it be success or failure – teaches us many lessons. Shoeisms are Veronica’s way of distilling those lessons into pithy, thought-proving messages that are filled with insight into the real world we live in.This is no ‘calendar wisdom’, but rather, a digest of the accumulated business and personal expertise of an exceptionally successful woman.
Shoeisms are meant to be dipped into whenever and wherever the need arises. And when better to dip into them than International Woman’s Day? They are an instant pick-me-up for anyone who’s ever doubted themselves or found themselves enslaved by ‘the things they’ve always done’.
They are the ultimate liberator of the soul and should form part of every woman’s self-help armoury. Click I’ll be attending if you’re free to come along and join us for an evening of Shoeisms, chat and celebration to mark International Women’s Day. Non members are welcome to attend for a small fee of €25. Please note, you can attend 2 events only, before joining.

Collecting Art for Pleasure
and Investment |
On 20 February Ian Whyte of Whyte and Sons Fine Art Auctioneers educated and entertained over 70 women in the Stephen’s Green Hibernian Club. He gave us invaluable tips on art collecting and how to situate yourself at an auction. If you don’t want people in the audience to know you’re bidding, sit in the front row - simple, but effective!
Ian’s presentation included a beautiful slide show of work from some of Ireland’s best known artists along with a few up and coming names. He encouraged us to go along to auctions and galleries to educate ourselves on the ‘art’ of art collecting. Until you find your own preference, ask questions and introduce yourself to those whom may know more about the particular work you are viewing. Most people you meet at art auctions are more than happy to share their knowledge and can be very encouraging to new collectors. Networking can be of value in all walks of life!
We are very grateful to Ian Whyte for sharing his expertise and for bringing along a copy of the Whyte’s auction book for all participants. Ian also arranged for a copy of the Irish Arts Review to be given to all attendees. |
