Christmas is around the corner and what better way to prepare yourself for the festive season than to join us for a Wine and Cheese tasting evening at the Stephens Green Hibernian Club?

We are delighted to welcome Peter and Rosemary Crosse of C&H Wines and Annie McEvoy from Matthew Cheese Cellar to host this month’s Network Dublin event.

Peter is an international wine expert and will talk us through some of the finer details of wines - grapes, vintages, flavours and food accompaniments for starters! There will be generous tasting available throughout the evening, so perhaps you should leave the car at home!

Annie is the General Manager of Matthews Cheese Cellar, a paradise for cheese lovers. It is not only for those who already know their cheese but for those who wish to learn.

Annie will take us through a brief history of cheese and the basic cheese making process, then tell us the how to match wines with each cheese and how to store and serve different cheese. Annie has kindly offered to bring a selection of cheeses for us to taste on the night.

And to top it off....

C&H Wines has also agreed to give Network Dublin Members a special offer to buy 11 bottles and get one free - this is on top of their already very keen prices for Christmas. The wines that we will taste on the evening will be available for you to buy and delivery can be arranged well in time for the festive season!

We are so excited that our annual Network Dublin Christmas lunch is only a few weeks away! And we’re delighted that so many of you have booked your place.

As it is a Christmas lunch and it is the season for giving, we would like to offer our members the opportunity to donate a hamper / prize that will be raffled off at the lunch. All proceeds will go to One Family, our charity for 2006.

Personal Effectiveness

We are delighted at the response to the final ‘My Work’ event for 2006 which was all about Personal Effectiveness with Mary O’Driscoll from Arrivas Training & Development. It was the largest attendance for a ‘My Work’ event this year.

Mary explained the four different types of personalities and the language they use. She explained that by incorporating the language of another personality type when communicating with others, we are in simple terms, ‘speaking their language’! Simple eh?

The workshop was interactive, great fun and challenged us all! Mary truly connected with all who attended the presentation and made us all re-think our communication styles.

October’s Spotlight On saw Pamela Fay from Business Performace Perspectives take us thorugh do’s and don’t of Business Etiquette. Pamela explained that the following were good rules to live by:

Ensure that the tone of your conversation is positive
Make good eye contact
Ensure that your verbal and non verbal messages say the same thing
Do not swear
If you start with positive intent, you are well on the journey!
